Safeguarding

Our committee has adopted the four following Croquet England documents as the club’s safeguarding policies:

Our Safeguarding Officer should be contacted for advice and if there are any concerns.

We all deserve to be able to play croquet in a safe environment – this means being treated in a fair and equal way, no matter what our age, race, sex, gender, sexual orientation, ability or disability may be.
Perhaps you might be worried about your own well-being, or that of another member – remember we can all be vulnerable some of the time.
Maybe another member is behaving differently to normal. At our club, if you are worried then please contact me and we can explore if any further action needs to be taken.

I thought it might be useful to highlight one issue as an example: – When does banter become bullying?
Banter is a shared joke and teasing between friends who are each on an equal footing and are giving and taking a fair share of the teasing.
Banter can become bullying when there is an imbalance. Once the person on the receiving end starts to feel hurt, upset, offended, nervous, or intimidated, the line has been crossed between banter and bullying.
Remember it is the feelings of the person who feels bullied that matter in this instance.
